Interactive Designer
Description
Operand’s Interactive Designers are responsible for much of the experiential and visual sensibilities of Operand’s experiences. An Interactive Designer must have a discerning creative eye and the ability to generate good creative designs. But he or she must also be comfortable with various interactive technologies, especially Flash. We are looking for experienced professionals who can perform with minimal supervision while staying results-oriented and flexible.
Responsibilities
Responsible for generating and implementing creative design ideas for client pitches & projects, including web sites, kiosks, installations, etc. Responsible for mocking up complete screen and page designs and facilitating the production process from the completed designs. Responsible for ensuring that design styles and elements are consistent with style guides, usability standards, required animation effects, etc.
Responsible for graphics production and web production. Responsible for animation and other visual effects when called for by the project. Advanced working knowledge of Photoshop, Flash, and Illustrator are all imperative.
Primary creative influence on various projects, incorporating design and usability input from the client and the rest of the project team. Interaction with producers, technical staff, and clients will be required.
Required Skills
1-3 years experience in web design or other interactive design. Must be able to demonstrate a strong and original design sense via numerous portfolio samples.
At least 1 year work experience or 2 years student/other experience with each of the following applications: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash. Experience with other graphics applications, manual animation techniques, 3D modeling, etc. are all definite pluses.
Should be generally familiar with the various elements involved in the process of building a web site – HTML, JavaScript, PHP/ASP scripting, XML/databases, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to deal effectively with both clients and team members.
Must be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision and take initiative. A willingness to try new things and learn new skills is imperative.
Interactive Developer
Description
Operand’s Interactive Developers are responsible for all of the back-end functionality of Operand’s experiences. An Interactive Developer must have strong technical capabilities and be an experienced programmer. But he or she must also have a creative sensibility and understand the aesthetics of Operand’s projects. We are looking for experienced professionals who can perform with minimal supervision while staying results-oriented and flexible.
Responsibilities
Responsible for all advanced programming, both server-side and client-side for simultaneous multiple projects, including web sites, kiosks, installations, etc. Responsible for working with Operand’s interactive designers in facilitating the production process from the completed designs.
Responsible for overseeing the coding of numerous visual and interactive elements using XHTML, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, Ajax, ActionScript, PHP, ASP, SQL, etc. Must define overall code structure and framework that designers and others can write to and test all elements together.
Also must be able to build software as needed, such as Windows applications, web services, communication and synchronization routines, custom hardware interfaces using manufacturer SDKs and APIs , etc. Interaction with producers, creative staff, and clients will be required.
Required Skills
2-5 years experience in web development or other interactive software development. Must be able to demonstrate strong technical capabilities and provide examples of prior work.
At least 2 years work experience or 3 years student/other experience with each of the following: XHTML & CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, ActionScript. At least 1 year experience with broader languages and OO environments such as python, C++, .NET, Java, etc. Experience with visual tools like animation and 3D is a definite plus.
Must be extremely knowledgeable about all the various elements involved in the process of building complex web sites. Must be passionate about usability and extremely detail oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to deal effectively with both clients and team members.

Interactive Producer
Description
Operand’s Interactive Producers plan and manage the implementation of various projects from start to finish. An Interactive Producer will stay focused on the numerous details required to achieve project success, and may work on multiple projects simultaneously, depending on project size. A good mix of technical and creative skills is imperative. We are looking for experienced professionals who can perform with minimal supervision while staying results-oriented and flexible.
Responsibilities
Responsible for digesting business requirements and transforming them into written specification documents detailing the design and development of Operand’s interactive projects. From this documentation, a producer must develop a comprehensive and detailed project plan, mapping out milestones, skill sets required, client coordination, tasks to be performed, dependencies, etc.
Primary client contact for implementation and primary owner of all project tasks. Responsible for ongoing supervision of the project, including coordinating meetings and communication, ensuring all dependencies are met, tracking milestones, following up on tasks, etc.
Responsible for overseeing ongoing QA of the work product as it is being built, ensuring that all requirements mapped out in the specification are met.
Required Skills
2-5 years experience in a related field, preferably at another interactive agency. Must be extremely organized with great attention to detail and ability to think through complex processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to deal effectively with both clients and team members.
Must be very familiar with all the various elements of building a web site – how to specify the format for graphics from the designer, how to specify copy from the client, how to evaluate the scripted site from the developers, how to work with databases, how to set up DNS, etc. Must understand at least the basics about every element of web projects, including: HTML, PHP, ASP, mysql, MS SQL, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, XML, JavaScript, etc.
Interactive Internship

We are looking for interns with a passion for interactive technologies and experience in one or more of the following: Macromedia Flash, graphic design, illustration & animation, web development, JavaScript, Ajax, HTML/DHTML/XML.

This is a full-time paid summer internship. You will be compensated at a flat weekly rate, commensurate with your experience. We may consider part-time or shorter term internships for outstanding candidates but full-time is very much preferred.
